The Commandery is a historic building open to visitors and located in the city of Worcester, England. It opened as a museum in 1977 and was for a while the only museum in England dedicated solely to the Civil Wars. The Commandery ceased to be a Civil War museum when it reopened to the public in May 2007, having undergone a year and a half of refurbishments and reinterpretation jointly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Worcester City Council, who own the building. It is a Grade I listed building.

  • You do not know Worcester if you have not been here. The national significance of the Civil War is set out for all to see.

  • This museum is soul less, the staff seem to be uninterested, the exhibits were rather poor, Prince Rupert, a civil war leader, was stuck in a broom cupboard! The cafe was really good, I assume this.....  more

  • Amazing building, full of history, a hidden gem which is not to be missed if you are a history nut like me. Not so good on the organisational side for functions, but still an amazing venue
  • To history lovers like myself, this place is an absolute paradise. A really interesting look at the civil war, which you are driven to experience in a unique and engaging fashion. The house itself is beautiful and you really feel like you're getting your money's worth from the museum. I am not even a massive fan of civil war history, but still had an incredible time with my partner's grandmother which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were all excellent as well, nothing was too much trouble and they retrieved a small sentimental item which I had lost for me. The cafĂ© was also extremely pleasant. The only thing I would say is that the talk which was offered was slightly lacklustre but that did not distract greatly from our visit and I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
