  • First up, Planetarium was great, absolutely faultless. I’m sure the exhibits here are equally great. Unfortunately, the centre appear to place profit over customer experience. From the start, a lack of adequate parking sees you forced to the park and ride. When you manage to find the right park and ride and get the bus finally departs you’ll finally make it to the chaos. As I said, planetarium was amazing but the rest is so busy you won’t get near half the exhibits without either some rogue child or person without manners shouldering you out the way. I get that museums need to make money to survive which is why £50 for 4 people plus another £15 for the planetarium show was tolerable (although I think the then recommended £9+ additional donation is a bit much but that’s just me). Bottom line, the through the door price should be sufficient to not cram north of 2000 people into this place. Yes, I came in the school holidays on a rainy day but surely putting a cap on the headcount wouldn’t hurt your customers experience. We managed to stomach about 2 hours after the planetarium before we could take no more, only to find we couldn’t leave for another half hour thanks to the park and ride. Doubt I’ll be back but if I do, it’ll just be for the planetarium. Your mileage may vary, this was just my experience today.
  • Visited the centre today as a family of four. We all loved our time and spent about 4 hours there, but easily could have spent longer if we were more local. My 12 year old son and 8 year old daughter loved getting hands on with the exhibits. Although the centre was fairly busy, it wasn't crowded and we didn't have to wait long, if at all, to try the equipment. We all enjoyed the live show and the (booked) planetarium which, incidentally, although is aimed across all ages is certainly still interesting and entertaining for adults. Great to see such enthusiastic staff too. Thanks for giving us a great day out!
