Beautiful but the Circle sears unbearable. I had a free evening so went to see Hamilton. I read a few warnings that the circle seats 1st of the two level up). We’re tight. Sadly it’s true. The... more »
You go to the theatre to see a show so that is the main thing you need to look at when deciding where to go. Since the Victoria Palace Theatre was showing Hamilton when I went it was busy and there were queues to get in. Mainly because you had to have the credit card the tickets were bought with on you. A great way to beat the touts that plague so many events. Our seats were in the upper tier and quite steeply sloped. Not where you want to be if you have a problem with heights. They were not uncomfortable but leaning forward to see the stage did mean that it puts a strain on the back. There is a bar for the upper tier and we were early so didn't have to wait long to get served. It had the usual selection of not very good beer and not very good wine as well as massively overpriced crisps and snacks. The wine was drinkable and after ordering I did notice that the had a good selection of gins. Probably go that way on my next visit. Like so many theatres in London the Victoria Palace suffers from having been built when there was not so much thought given to toilet facilities so be prepared to queue, especially if you are female. Having said that the views and the acoustics were good as was the show. Overall I had a good evening out and would certainly go back to see another shaw that interested me at the Victoria Palace.
Hamilton was and is the greatest musical on earth at the minute - there’s no doubt about that. The beauty of the theatre astounded me and left me speechless. The staff were amazing, from getting us into the theatre to buying merchandise to getting to our seats. This was my greatest musical experience and the cast were amazing, and even came to the stage door. I look forward to returning to this theatre in the future, I will remember this for the rest of my life!
