Tower Bridge, London

4.7
#6 of 3,305 in Things to do in London
Only a handful of bridges around the world have achieved iconic status, and Tower Bridge is one of them. Judging by its name and appearance, you might think the bridge is an original part of the adjacent Tower of London. Its construction, however, was completed in 1894, centuries after the fortress. Head into one tower and up to the walkway 42 m (138 ft) above the River Thames to reach the other tower. You'll have a panoramic view of the city along the way. Stop by the exhibit in the east walkway to watch a video about the bridge's construction, and to see a gallery of photos of 20 significant bridges around the world. Head into the Victorian engine rooms, where you can experience a recreation of the motor-based operation of the bridge at the time of its inauguration and view a virtual bridge-lift. If your visit to the area will be near dusk, stop to see the bridge lit up. Plan my London trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • A little away from the Center, but it is worth visiting it. A very beautiful monument and close to the warship Belfast, st. Paul Cathedral london tower i. The only downside to taking into account omo is London is the price of admission.

  • Walk through the two towers of the bridge and structure that unites them. Floors of glass that impress. Explanation of the history of the bridge. Operation and room of machines. Very pleasant staff. Recommended.

  • I went to take a tour of the Tower Bridge. It's decently priced. Students get discount. The views of London from the walkways of the bridge are beautiful. Also, the walkways have glass flooring from where one can take a top view of the moving traffic on the bridge and Thames River flowing below it. The experience is fantastic. After this you'll be guided to the Engine Room which I think is the most beautiful part of the tour. Must see the engine room and other things in there.
  • Tower Bridge is one of my favorite London Landmark! Every time I come to London, I always stopped by to see it. Today, my friend encouraged me to go up and see the walkways at the top of the towers. Wow! They are so amazing and they have some cool views! We liked taking pictures on the see through floor and using the mirror on the ceiling. There's also some interesting historical facts posted and the engine room is also cool to see. Definitely a must see!
  • The tower is a beautiful London icon and an engineering marvel. You can just stand there and get lost in London's beauty. Must visit at both day and night since it's nice to see both the city lights and sunlit bridge. Quick notes: 1) You can walk across the bridge for free. 2) Make sure you catch the bridge open for the river traffic. It's amazing! 3) If you have time and some ££ try catching the tower bridge exhibition. It's a quick informational tour and you get to walk the upper bridge with a glass view of the bridge and river beneath. 4) There's also a brilliant photo and art gallery included in the tower exhibition that you can stop and marvel.
  • Took my 8 year old daughter and my 5 year old son on a lovely sunny April day. We took the lift up (good idea). Great views of London and and down bellow specially through the glass view on the top walkways. There are a few screens explaining details of the Bridge and it's construction with a choice of subtitled languages and also 2 rooms showing short films about the Bridge. Interactive displays in the engine room that we all enjoyed. I got combined tickets for both the Bridge and Monument which we visited 2 weeks later. Good family day out.
