The View from The Shard, London

4.3
#22 of 3,555 in Things to do in London
Go to the top of western Europe's tallest building for one of the best panoramas of London. The View from The Shard occupies floors 68, 69, and 72, some 244 m (800 ft) up the 310 m (1,016 ft) building. You can reach the viewing platform--which is about twice the height of the next-highest viewing platform in the city--via one of two high-speed elevators. From here, you'll have 360-degree views up to 64 km (40 mi) away. Pre-purchase your tickets on the venue's website to avoid waiting in line at the entrance, and to save on the price of admission. • Now included with the London pass, which makes it well worth a visit. If the weather is not so good the staff at the reception desk can do a live check on visibility before you get your ticket. That's a really nice touch. The view is certainly fantastic; you can see many of the landmarks in London and also see London from a different perspective. It's a very popular venue.
  • Incredible views. Fantastic staff. Took my disabled Mother (aged 86), and (Super) Simon Marsh (Duty Manager) spent nearly half an hour with us, helping my Mother locate London suburbs she knew from her childhood. He also found us seats to enjoy a glass of champagne 800ft up! Thank you Simon. An incredible experience. Spectacular by day, extraordinarily enchanting and absorbing seeing the cityscape lit by evening.
