The Intrepid Fox was a pub at 97/99 Wardour Street, Soho, London, established in 1784 by the publican Samuel House, who named it after the prominent British Whig statesman Charles James Fox. The pub was located on the corner of Wardour Street and Peter Street. To visit The Intrepid Fox on your holiday in London, and find out what else London has to offer, use our London.
During the general election of 1784, House provided free drink to the public.
More recently, it was a goth pub which also hosted heavy metal gigs. It closed in 2006, when the owner Mitchells & Butlers sold the building to property developers.
The Wardour Street building it formerly occupied is clad in faience, including a faience relief of Charles James Fox. As of 2017, the premises were in use as a branch of the Byron hamburger chain.

The Intrepid Fox Reviews
One of the best places in London for good drinks and better music. Ideal after a rock gig, (you can even find the musicians there afterwards). Good prices, nice service and great music. The place has.... more »
Really great place for people interested in rock music, beer and fun. You don't see your average yuppies here. Beer is cold, music is good, what else would you need? more »
The Intrepid Fox is an excellent metal bar, filled with colorful and friendly patrons. To accompany your drinks a constant soundtrack of rock and metal music blasts inside the bar. Or you could go upstairs to see the live music of the evening. Either way,the atmosphere is excellent. The bar is covered with a variety of interesting decor - ranging from the macabre in the form of metal skeletons, to pulp magazine-esque wall decorations. Visually, it's a treat. However, in many cases the visual aspect is let down by other factors. The toilets, like in any bar or pub, leave something to be desired, and when I went some of the benches were a little broken. The queues for drinks are long, owing to the large patronage of the bar, but the drinks are not too overpriced. Buying with a card requires you to spend a tenner or more, but if you're going with mates (as I would recommend) this should not be a problem, so long as you're okay with buying a few rounds if you don't have any cash.
Nice place to get your rock/metal fill. Suitably mashed up couches and perching spots to sink into as you let the music take you! Only thing is we were scooted off by some cockroaches by the window. Not overly encouraging, but goes with the decor? ^_^
