Set in a historic Victorian shop, James Smith & Sons offers a vast selection of sophisticated umbrellas, canes, and seatsticks for women and men. This privately owned company was founded in 1830 by the same family that still runs the business. Notice the interior, featuring original dark wood and glass cabinets, which have remained practically intact since 1865. Some of the products in the store are still handmade in its basement workshop, just like in the old days. The shop also provides repair services. • Wonderful shop with outstanding service. Bought two umbrellas as gifts for family members. Unlikely to ever need another one due to quality and craftsmanship. Lots of choice with nothing too much trouble. Also worth a browse if your nearby. Highly recommended.
  • Popped in today to have a small piece replaced on my JS & S umbrella (which itself has given over a decade of excellent service); the staff were friendly and helpful, ensured the work was done within about three hours, and upon collection insisted it was a complimentary repair with no money owed. That's what I call good service! If you need a first-rate umbrella with customer care to match, look no further.
