Above the Stag Theatre is an Off West End theatre in London with a focus on producing LGBT-themed theatre. It is the only producing venue in the UK presenting a year-round programme of LGBT-interest theatre. The space comprises a 100-seat main house, a 60-seat studio and a café bar.

Above the Stag Theatre was founded in 2008 by Peter Bull. From late 2008 to early 2012 its home was above the Stag, a gay pub in Victoria, London, which has since been demolished. Following an 18-month search for a new home, the company moved to a renovated railway arch in Vauxhall, where it showed over 30 productions. In June 2018, after a major fundraising campaign, Above the Stag Theatre moved to a new premises on Albert Embankment. Its current Artistic Director is Andrew Beckett.

  • Excellent venue! This theatre has an excellent setup that gives it a cozy feel. The bar serves all types of alcohol and not the extremely low end stuff that you find in other theatres.  more »

  • It's a nice, small theatre with a large bar area and gender neutral toilets. The atmosphere is casual-hipster vibe, staff were very friendly. View seems to be really good from any seat. Only issue is that the seats are extremely narrow and close together, you're basically cuddling anyone who's sitting next to you.
  • saw Extra Virgin Oil here 7th Feb. Gripping and intense play. Both actors gave great performances. A group of us regularly see shows here. A few weren't to our liking but overall they range from good to excellent. Very diverse shows which is the best part about it. A lot of talent showcased here from writers, artistic and creative team to the performers. Usually an enjoyable night out at a reasonable price
