Greyfriars Kirkyard, Edinburgh

4.6
With a violent poltergeist, history of body snatchers, and tombstones that gave JK Rowling inspiration for some of her famous book characters, Greyfriars Kirkyard attracts a constant stream of ghost hunters and Harry Potter fans. Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, the graveyard has been there since the late 16th century. Take a guided walking tour to learn some of its mysteries. Don't miss the graveyard's most famous resident of all, Greyfriar's Bobby, a loyal dog that had guarded its master's grave for 14 years. The bronze statue of the faithful Skye terrier now watches over the cemetery from outside the grounds. • A beautiful graveyard! The whole scary history is super interesting and it makes a cool and scary atmosphere. The whole graveyard is very clean, beautiful and stunning. All the tomb stones are super pretty. I love the fact that there’s a lot of green, plants there. To be honest I only came there to find the Tom stone where the famous Tom Riddle ( in real Tom Riddell) hidden is, but I found also a lot of other super cool things. Q: I found there a tomb stone of John Watson and has it and connection with the famous “Sherlock Holmes”?
  • Loved this whole experience! A truly heartwarming story wrapped up in a beautiful historical sight. Never would I have thought a graveyard could be so much fun and informative!! Highly recommend to all!
