Undercliff Walk, Brighton

Walk, cycle, and enjoy the sea air at Undercliff Walk, a popular scenic coastal walk stretching from Brighton Marina to Saltdean. This area is of special historical and geological interest, containing fossils of mammoths, woolly rhinos, and hippos. The iconic chalk and flint cliffs, which have become a symbol of East Sussex and Kent, are propped up by a concrete seawall. A broad promenade tops the wall, providing walkers with unobstructed views of the cliffs and the sea. The walk is about 4.8 km (3 mi) long, and passes through the picturesque village of Rottingdean, famous for its tea shops and small restaurants. On sunny days the glare from the cliffs can be quite intense, so don’t forget to bring your sunglasses. • Really nice cycle route along from the pier, past the Marina and back again. Spacious enough for bikes or pedestrians to pass each other safely. Lots of different points to access the beach.  more »
  • You must stroll along the walk. It is good exercise and you can soak up the scenery along the way. Enjoy a cuppa at the end before your return journey.  more »
