St George's Market is the last surviving Victorian covered market in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is located on May Street, close to the River Lagan and the Waterfront Hall. Belfast Corporation (now Belfast City Council) commissioned the building of St George's Market, which was built in three phases between 1890 and 1896. Before 1890 St George's Market was an open market and most likely contained a slaughterhouse and a meat market. Today it is a thriving market with 300 traders, crafters musicians and food vendors.

  • We loved it! We went for breakfast and a mooch about. We could all find what we wanted to eat, freshly made and excellent value. And then bought lots of handicrafts to take home. And love music...  more »

  • A fabulous indoor Market with food, craft, and other interesting items on sale from a huge variety of stalls. Live music on a Saturday lunchtime. Love grabbing a coffee and a table, then deciding what to have for brunch or lunch. A fabulous mix of smells and sights around the various food outlets and you'll spend a while deciding what to have. A great few hours, shopping, eating, or just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere.
  • Excellent market for fruit and vegetables, raw meat and fish, textiles, brick a brac. Home made jewellery, printed photography, books, scarves, spices, jewellery but to list sums of the things I saw. The fresh fish was amazing. You can also eat cooked foods from all over the world. Sitting areas to take your food and drinks and sit for a while and catch up on the gossip or watch the world go by. Go to this market when you get the chance. You will not be disappointed
