Trip Planner: Africa / Tunisia / Medenine Governorate / Djerba Island / Houmt Souk / Markt/Basar in Houmt Souk
Get the genuine, authentic vibe of the Djerba island at Markt/Basar in Houmt Souk. The market is divided into two sections--a flea market with piles of vintage secondhand clothes and a regular souk with plastic tents and open-air stalls selling a wide selection of goods from food to jewelry. The market is not extremely popular with tourists, so be prepared for continuous advances from vendors and, potentially, con artists. Bring water with you and wear a hat or a scarf to protect yourself from the heat. If you wish to try haggling, note that most of the prices can be knocked down to 10 percent of the starting value. The market is busiest in the evening. Take a look at our Djerba Island trip planner to schedule your visit to Markt/Basar in Houmt Souk and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

Thinking about dividing the price by 7 see 10! Some people advertise you at a price of three times nothing in excess of 300.00 euros! No, but there.... We have to run!
Comme tous les souks il faut discuter les prix... certains commerçants sont cohérents d'autres démesurés.. mais il y a le marché traditionnel de poissons, épices, fruits.. et touristiques... ais nous ... more »Like all souks you have to discuss the prices... some traders are consistent with others disproportionate. but there is the traditional market of fish, spices, fruits. tourism... ais we can drink good orange juice, pomegranate... A good time spent with friendly sellers and not too insistent. You have to turn your club bracelet so you don't get abused by some good talkers/scammers. The price of the taxi is very affordable, many are on the counter. The tour of the island is well done with a taxi that makes you discover what you want without exceeding 35 euros per 4 hours.
