Marvel at the grandeur of Roman architecture at Amphitheatre of El Jem, one of the best-preserved Roman ruins and a World Heritage Site. Built around 238 CE to host crowds of approximately 35,000 for spectator events, the structure remains remarkably intact, standing 148 m (486 ft) by 122 m (400 ft), and displaying a distinctly Roman style in its curved form and use of arches. Though stones have been stripped from it for other construction, battles have raged around it, and it's been used for grain storage, shops, and dwellings over the centuries, the amphitheater still evokes a sense of the prosperity of this area of Roman Africa. A little smaller than our Colosseum, it is a spectacular testament to the Roman cutlura and its expansion.

The most impressive is in my opinion the amphitheatre of el-Jem, which in size and capacity is among the largest in the world and rivals the Colosseum. Well preserved although part of the stones have been used as often happens to build rear monuments is a truly impressive vision. The nearby museum is also beautiful.
Very beautiful and all things considered, quite good preserved. A lot to see. Definitely worth seeing.
Wonderful amfitheatre half ruined and a half restored - you will feel the genius loci there. How stones were carved to put them together creating an elliptical structure - no wonder. Worth visiting and taking astonishing shots!
