#2 of 12 in Museums in Tunis Governorate
Founded in 1875 on the spot where the heart of the ancient seaside city once stood, Carthage Museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts from the Punic era and other periods. See limestone carvings and marble sarcophagi with images of animals and plants and large colorful mosaics. Masks and jewelry in cast glass, amphorae, ornate Bronze razors, and ivory pieces testify to the past glory of the city, which once stood as Rome's main rival in the Mediterranean. Perched atop Byrsa Hill, the museum's garden offers sweeping views over the Bay of Tunis. • Very ancient and historical place. Better to visit it with someone who can explain you what this place is about. Touch to History 😊
  • Amazing view, but the museum is always closed!
