On the bank of the Mtkvari River and at the foot of Trialeti mountain range, Tbilisi's location has given the city strategic significance since it was founded in the 5th century.
Explore Tbilisi's surroundings by going to Mtskheta (Mtskheta Church of the Holy Cross & Jvari Church) and Uplistsiche Cave Town (in Gori). A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Tue): take in the pleasant sights at Baku Boulevard, then contemplate the long history of Baku Old City, and then examine the collection at Heydar Aliyev Center. On the 30th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in panoramic vistas at Maiden Tower, enjoy breathtaking views from Flame Towers, and then step into the grandiose world of Palace of the Shirvanshahs.
