Striking a balance between financial hub and tourist attraction, Labuan Island offers much of the appeal of Penang without the hordes of tourists.
Start off your visit on the 20th (Sat): pause for some photo ops at Surrender Point. Keep things going the next day: don't miss a visit to Labuan Square (Dataran Labuan), stroll the grounds of World War II Memorial, then stroll the grounds of Labuan War Cemetery, and finally stroll through Labuan Beach.

A holiday in Kota Kinabalu, the state capital and main gateway town, offers access to urban areas boasting a diverse and rapidly evolving set of malls, bars, and quality restaurants serving locally caught seafood.
On the 22nd (Mon), take in the awesome beauty at Rasa Ria Reserve by Shangri-La, then play a few rounds at Dalit Bay Golf & Country Club, and then take some stellar pictures from Kokol Hill. On the next day, view the masterpieces at Sabah Art Gallery, enjoy the sand and surf at Tanjung Aru Beach, then take in the exciting artwork at Agarwood Art Gallery, and finally let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour.

You can do a combination of flight and taxi from Labuan Island to Kota Kinabalu in 2.5 hours. Other options are to ride a ferry; or do a combination of ferry and bus. In June, daily temperatures in Kota Kinabalu can reach 39°C, while at night they dip to 28°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue) early enough to travel to Sandakan.

A largely residential city of around 135,000, Semporna has gained popularity in recent years due to its archipelago's good connection to the surrounding islands, including very popular diving or snorkeling destinations such as Sipadan.
Kick off your visit on the 26th (Fri): explore the striking landscape of Sipadan National Park. Keep things going the next day: step off the mainland to explore Tun Sakaran Marine Park and then look for all kinds of wild species at Bohey Dulang Island.
