On the 2nd (Thu), step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sanjusangendo Temple, then steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and finally don't miss a visit to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. On the 3rd (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take a stroll through Gion, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ryoanji Temple, and finally pause for some photo ops at Todai-ji Temple.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Himeji in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 63°F in April, and nighttime lows around 54°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sun) so you can take a train to Hiroshima.
