The capital of Tonga and the seat of the island nation's royal family, Nuku'alofa was first seen by Western eyes in 1777, when legendary Captain James Cook arrived in the area.
Step out of Nuku'alofa with an excursion to Anahulu Cave - The Underground Swimming Pool in Haveluliku--about 32 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: stroll through Mapu'a 'a Vaea Blowholes, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Centenary Church, take in the pleasant sights at Hufangalupe Natural Land Bridge, and don't miss a visit to Kingdomkoffie.
