The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Tue): get engrossed in the history at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, examine the collection at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, take an in-depth tour of 26 Martyrs Museum, then examine the collection at Nagasaki Shipyard Museum, then take a stroll through Shinchi Chinatown, and finally explore the world behind art at Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum.

Take a train from Beppu to Kumamoto in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. November in Kumamoto sees daily highs of 19°C and lows of 10°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Sat) so you can catch the train to Fukuoka.

The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Get a sense of the local culture at Kitakyushu Museum of Natural History & Human History and Hakozaki Shrine. Step off the beaten path and head to Munakata Shrine and Nanzoin. Go for a jaunt from Fukuoka to Dazaifu to see Dazaifu Tenman-gu about 36 minutes away. There's much more to do: take an in-depth tour of Fukuoka City Museum, relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, see the interesting displays at OH Sadaharu Baseball Museum, and browse the different shops at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center.

You can take a train from Kumamoto to Fukuoka in an hour. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 20°C in November, and nighttime lows around 11°C. On the 25th (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
