The oldest European settlement on South Australia's mainland, Glenelg is named after a former Secretary of State for War and the Colonies, Lord Glenelg.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Glenelg Beach and Monarto Zoo. Get out of town with these interesting Glenelg side-trips: Aldinga Beach (in Aldinga Beach), Victor Harbor (Granite Island & Urimbirra Wildlife Park) and Pioneer Memorial Gardens (in Hahndorf). And it doesn't end there: find something for the whole family at The Beachouse, see the interesting displays at Bay Discovery Centre, get engrossed in the history at Glenelg Visitor Information Centre, and do a tasting at Fox Creek Wines.

To find other places to visit, traveler tips, ratings, and other tourist information, read our Glenelg tour builder site .

In January, daily temperatures in Glenelg can reach 34°C, while at night they dip to 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
