With the chance to visit a World Heritage-listed inner city, tours of Paramaribo remain among the most culturally enriching things tourists can do in Suriname.
Venture out of the city with trips to Fort Nieuw Amsterdam (in Nieuw Amsterdam) and Warappa Kreek (in Reynsdorp). Spend the 24th (Tue) surrounded by wildlife at Tafelberg Nature Preserve. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Fort Zeelandia, make a trip to Neveh Shalom Jewish Synagogue, stroll around Brownsberg Nature Park, and get a sense of history and politics at Presidential Palace.

If you are flying in from Brazil, the closest major airport is Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport. In September, daytime highs in Paramaribo are 39°C, while nighttime lows are 28°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) so you can travel back home.
