The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.
When in Vienna, make a side trip to see Melk Abbey in Melk, approximately 1h 05 min away. Pack the 5th (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at Prater. There's still lots to do: explore the historical opulence of Schonbrunn Palace, explore the world behind art at Belvedere Palace, see the interesting displays at MuseumsQuartier Wien, and ponder the world of politics at Rathaus.

If you are flying in from India, the closest major airport is Vienna International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 12°C in March, and nighttime lows around 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
