The word "Brazil" isn't often mentioned in the same breath as "excellent urban planning"--except in Curitiba.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Deutscher Wald / Bosque Alemao and the Polish Immigration Memorial. Step out of Curitiba to go to Morretes and see Nhundiaquara River, which is approximately 1h 25 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Metropolitan Cathedral, see the interesting displays at Memorial da Seguranca no Transporte, stroll around Parque Sao Lourenco, and look for gifts at Mercado Municipal de Curitiba.
