Linz

Linz ©
Located on the Danube with a rolling green backdrop, Linz is a city equally rich in nature and culture.
Melk Abbey and Stift Admont are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Museum-lovers will appreciate Ars Electronica Center and Museum Niederoesterreich. Change things up with these side-trips from Linz: Benediktinerstift Göttweig (in Gottweig), Sankt Polten (St.Pölten Rathausplatz Weihnachtsmarkt, Der Hammerpark, &more) and Krems an der Donau (Museum Krems, Karikaturmuseum, &more). Spend the 20th (Tue) exploring nature at Nationalpark Gesaeuse. There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Alter Dom, contemplate the waterfront views at Offensee, pause for some serene contemplation at Wehrkirche Mariae Himmelfahrt, and examine the collection at Landesmuseum Joanneum GmbH.

For ratings, where to stay, and other tourist information, read our Linz road trip planning website.

If you are flying in from Sweden, the closest major aiport is Linz Hörsching Airport.
