Nearly destroyed by war during the 1990s, the riverside city of Sarajevo now serves as one of the region's major educational, cultural, and commercial hubs.
Get a sense of the local culture at Bascarsija and Sebilj Brunnen (Fountain). You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Galerija 11/07/95 and Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque. When in Sarajevo, make a side trip to see Olympic Center Jahorina in Jahorina, approximately 38 minutes away.
