The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes National musem of Lithuania. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Vilnius: Trakai (Trakai Island Castle Museum & Chapel of St. John Nepomuk). There's much more to do: examine the collection at KGB Museum (Genocido Auku Muziejus), visit Vilnius Old Town, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Gate of Dawn, and pause for some photo ops at Cathedral (Arkikatedra Bazilika).

For where to stay, traveler tips, ratings, and more tourist information, use the Vilnius route builder.

Use the Route module to see travel options from your home to Vilnius. In September in Vilnius, expect temperatures between °C during the day and °C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Kernave.
