Vernal, the county seat and largest city in Uintah County is in northeastern Utah, United States, about 175mi east of Salt Lake City and west of the Colorado border. Discover out-of-the-way places like Moonshine Arch and Uintah County Heritage Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Vernal side-trips: Cub Creek Petroglyphs (in Jensen), Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area (in Manila) and Sand Wash Basin (in Maybell). There's still lots to do: learn more about the world around you at Utah Field House of Natural History State Park, take an in-depth tour of Western Heritage Museum, explore the galleries of Quarry Exhibit Hall, and explore the wealth of natural beauty at Dinosaur National Monument visitor center.
