The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Thu): make a trip to Sage Prefectural Government Observation Deck, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Yoshinogari Historical Park, then admire the masterpieces at Ishibashi Cultural Center, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kora Taisha Shrine. On your second day here, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Matsubara Shrine, steep yourself in history at Saga Shrine, admire the striking features of Saga Castle Hommaru History Museum, then contemplate the long history of Yanagawa Ohana, and finally take an in-depth tour of Hakushu Memorial Museum.

Drive from Tsushima to Fukuoka in 3 hours. When traveling from Tsushima in July, plan for a bit warmer days in Fukuoka, with highs around 36°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 28°C. On the 3rd (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
