Little more than a small town at the turn of the 20th century, Dushanbe grew rapidly during the Soviet era and now serves as the national capital and home to nearly 800,000 people.
Take a break from Dushanbe with a short trip to Hisor Fortress in Hisor, about 42 minutes away. There's still lots to do: walk around Rudaki Park, get engrossed in the history at National Museum of Tajikistan, experience the excitement of Delfin Aquapark, and view the masterpieces at NOOR ART GALLERY.

Getting from Khujand to Dushanbe by flight takes about an hour. Other options: drive. Traveling from Khujand in September, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Dushanbe, with lows of 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
