Known to most by its German name Auschwitz, the modestly sized city of Oswiecim sits at the foot of the Jura Mountains, just 50 km (30 mi) west of Krakow.
Explore Oswiecim's surroundings by going to Cieszyn (Piastowska Tower, Gora Zamkowa, & more), Bielsko-Biala (Monument to Bolek i Lolek & ZygZak Karting) and Pszczyna (Pszczyna Historic Park & Muzeum Zamkowe w Pszczynie). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau, pause for some photo ops at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, stroll around Planty Park, and make a trip to Family Home of John Paul II.

For photos, reviews, more things to do, and other tourist information, read Oswiecim trip maker app .

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major airports are Kraków John Paul II International Airport and Katowice International Airport. In February, daily temperatures in Oswiecim can reach 3°C, while at night they dip to -4°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
