Tourism in Shari-cho, a small town situated on Hokkaido's eastern tip, flourishes mainly because of its immediate proximity to the Shiretoko World Heritage Site.
Step off the beaten path and head to Shiretoko Goko Lake and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Visiting Lake Mashu and Kamuiwakka Hot Waterfall will get you outdoors. Go for a jaunt from Shari-cho to Teshikaga-cho to see Mokotoyama Lookout Parking Park about 1h 30 min away. Naha, the capital of Okinawa, has deep roots: Stone Age relics have been found in the city, and through the Middle Ages it rose in importance in the Ryukyu Kingdom.
