A snaking coastline and quaint, sleepy fishing villages characterize Amed, a stretch of shorefront with seven villages in Bali's east.
Get out of town with these interesting Amed side-trips: Nature & Wildlife Tours (in Candidasa), Jepun Salon & SPA (in Pemaron) and Jasri Beach (in Subagan). On the 5th (Sat), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Mount Agung. You can do a combination of ferry and bus from Nusa Lembongan to Amed in 3.5 hours. In January in Amed, expect temperatures between 87°F during the day and 75°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Tue) so you can go by car to Kuta.

Kuta

Formerly a sleepy fishing village, the beach resort town of Kuta now represents one of Indonesia's most popular tourist destinations.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kuta: Pecatu (Bingin Beach & Uluwatu Temple), Nirwana Bali Golf Club (in Tabanan) and Tanah Lot Temple (in Beraban). There's still lots to do: cool off at Waterbom Bali, relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, and wander the streets of Jimbaran Bay.
