Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hobart: Lawrenny Estate Distillery (in Ouse), Shene Distillery (in Pontville) and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (in Brighton). Derwent Bridge is a locality on the Lyell Highway at the southern edge of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.It is just south of Lake St Clair and the Lake St Clair visitor centre; and it is north of Lake King William and the Butlers Gorge Power Station.It is also the last inhabited location before Linda Valley in the West Coast Range - this section of the highway passes through the Wild Rivers National Park. On the 24th (Tue), pause for some photo ops at The Wall in the Wilderness, thentake in the awesome beauty at Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, and then take in the awesome beauty at Frenchmans Cap. On your second day here, explore and take pictures at Heritage Highway, get great views at Tarraleah Power Station Lookout, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Franklin River Nature Trail.
