A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Yonaha Maehama Beach and East Henna Cape. And it doesn't end there: snap pictures at Irabu Bridge, head off the coast to Irabu-jima Island, kick back and relax at Sunayama Beach, and see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

Berlin, Germany to Miyakojima is an approximately 19.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 8 hours traveling from Berlin to Miyakojima. In April in Miyakojima, expect temperatures between 29°C during the day and 23°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Tue) so you can ride a ferry to Iriomote-jima.

Taketomicho Iriomote-Jima stands as the second largest island in Okinawa.
Step off the beaten path and head to Canyoning & Rappelling Tours and Scuba & Snorkeling. There's still lots to do: head off the coast to Iriomote Island, kick back and relax at Ida no Hama Beach, have fun at Unarizaki Park, and look for all kinds of wild species at Funauki Village.

Traveling by ferry from Miyakojima to Iriomote-jima takes 4 hours. In April, daytime highs in Iriomote-jima are 30°C, while nighttime lows are 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Sun) to allow time to ride a ferry to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Cape Hirakubozaki and Kondoi Beach. On the 25th (Thu), spend an adventurous day with a kayaking and canoeing tour. There's much more to do: enjoy breathtaking views from Tamatorizaki Observatory, take a leisurely stroll along Nishi Pier, get outside with Yarabudake, and stroll through Yonehara Beach.

You can ride a ferry from Iriomote-jima to Ishigaki in an hour. Expect a daytime high around 30°C in April, and nighttime lows around 24°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 26th (Fri) early enough to travel to Nakijin-son.

Steeped in Ryukyuan history, Nakijin-son tourism centers around the ruins of an ancient stonewall castle.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Kouri-jima Island and Okichan Theater. Venture out of the city with trips to Kunigami-son (Cape Hedo & Daisekirinzan) and Tropical Dream Center (in Motobu-cho). There's still lots to do: go for a walk through Bise no Fukugi Tree Road, don't miss a visit to Nakijin Castle Ruins, get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, and walk around Okinawa Memorial Park Ocean Expo Park.

You can do a combination of flight and bus from Ishigaki to Nakijin-son in 6 hours. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Nakijin-son when traveling from Ishigaki in April, with lows around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Mon) so you can travel to Yakushima-cho.

A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Shiratani Unsuikyo Valley and Jōmon Sugi. Spend the 2nd (Thu) exploring nature at Yakusugi Land. There's lots more to do: admire the sheer force of Oko no Taki Fall, trek along Seibu Trail, identify plant and animal life at Anbo River, and make a trip to Wilson Stump.

You can do a combination of bus, flight, and taxi from Nakijin-son to Yakushima-cho in 9.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry, flight, and taxi; or do a combination of ferry and taxi. In April, plan for daily highs up to 25°C, and evening lows to 17°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Fri) early enough to travel to Kagoshima.

You can do a combination of taxi and flight from Yakushima-cho to Kagoshima in 3.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of taxi and ferry. Traveling from Yakushima-cho in May, expect little chillier with lows of 17°C in Kagoshima. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) early enough to catch the train to Hiroshima.
