Formerly a sleepy fishing village, the beach resort town of Kuta now represents one of Indonesia's most popular tourist destinations.
Tanah Lot Temple and Caow Eng Bio Chinese Buddhist Temple are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Your inner history buff will appreciate Uluwatu Temple and Pura Dalem Pengembak. Get out of town with these interesting Kuta side-trips: River Rafting & Tubing (in Denpasar), Mt Batur (in Kintamani) and Sanur (Karang Beach & Pura Tirta Empul Segara Merta Sari).
