Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
When in Venice, make a side trip to see Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, approximately Padua away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, explore the world behind art at Gallerie dell'Accademia, take in the views from Ponte dei Sospiri, and enjoy breathtaking views from St Mark's Campanile.

The famous setting for Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, Verona is one of northern Italy's main tourist destinations, largely owing to its incredibly rich artistic heritage.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Verona: Gardaland Park (in Castelnuovo del Garda), Lago di Garda (in Garda) and La Barca di Salvo (in Sirmione).
