Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Step out of Ishigaki to go to Iriomote-jima and see Canyoning & Rappelling Tours, which is approximately 1h 55 min away. The adventure continues: contemplate the waterfront views at Kabira Bay, kick back and relax at Yonehara Beach, get outside with Yarabudake, and take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Nosoko Mape.

Venture out of the city with trips to Himeji (Koko-en & Himeji Castle), Koya-cho (Koyasan Okunoin, Mt. Koya, &more) and Sato Fruit Kobo (in Nishiwaki). Next up on the itinerary: get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan, wander the streets of Dotombori District, get a taste of the local shopping with Minami (Namba), and explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Step out of Kyoto with an excursion to Todai-ji Temple in Nara--about 1 hour away. The adventure continues: contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ginkakuji Temple, see the interesting displays at Kyoto International Manga Museum, and make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
