Famed for its landscape of unusually shaped stone formations and churches cut into the natural rocks, Goreme sits in the central part of the country, an area originally settled during Roman times.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Goreme National Park and Derinkuyu Yeralti Sehri. Uchisar Castle and Güvercinlik Vadisi (Pigeon Valley) are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Explore Goreme's surroundings by going to Gomeda Vadisi (in Mustafapasa) and St.Theodore Church (in Derinkuyu).
