A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
Take a break from the city and head to Yakusugi Land and Mt. Miyanouradake. Step off the beaten path and head to Nagata Inakahama and Seibu Trail. There's still lots to do: admire the verdant scenery at Yoggo Valley, trek along Yaksushima Trecking, Jomon Japanese Cedar Course, make a trip to Kigensugi Cedar, and identify plant and animal life at Okinasugi.

Traveling by car from Shinkamigoto-cho to Yakushima-cho takes 14 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and flight. While traveling from Shinkamigoto-cho, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Yakushima-cho, ranging from highs of °C to lows of °C.
