Ishigaki

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Island Countryside Settlement and Cape Hirakubozaki. Take a break from the city and head to Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Yonehara Beach. The mountain town of Takachiho-cho remains a place of great importance to Japan's spiritual and natural heritage, and the point where these two things intersect.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Daikanbo and Takachiho Shrine. Take a break from the city and head to Manai Falls and Mt. Aso. Change things up with these side-trips from Takachiho-cho: Shirakawa Springs (in Minamiaso-mura) and Kusasenri (in Aso).
