Bring the kids along to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and Tokyo DisneySea. Step out of Tokyo to go to Maihama and see Ikspiari, which is approximately 32 minutes away. Bremen, Germany to Tokyo is an approximately 17.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually an 8 hour difference. In May, Tokyo is a bit warmer than Bremen - with highs of 28°C and lows of 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Kanazawa.

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
Attractions like Takayama Jinya and Hida Folk Archeological Museum (Hida Minzoku Kokokan) make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting Kanazawa side-trips: Takayama (Hirata Folk Art Museum (Hirata Kinen-kan) & Hida Minzoka Mura Folk Village (Hida no Sato)) and Shirakawa-mura (Nagase house, The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go Gassho Style Houses, &more). You can take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Traveling from Tokyo in May, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be little chillier in Kanazawa, with lows of 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Family-friendly places like Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Nijo Castle will thrill your kids. Change things up with these side-trips from Kyoto: Dotombori (Dotombori District & Naniwa Meibutsu Ichibirian Dotombori), Osaka (Tempozan Ferris Wheel, Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, &more) and Jishu Shrine (in Otsu). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, browse the eclectic array of goods at Nishiki Market Shopping District, and take a stroll through Gion.

Traveling by car from Kanazawa to Kyoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In May in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 29°C during the day and 17°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Wed) early enough to catch the train to Hiroshima.

Formed by the gradual merging of several old fishing villages, today the island town of Motobu-cho boasts paradisal beaches of white sand, clear waters, and a rich array of wildlife.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and Okichan Theater. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Motobu-cho: Onna-son (Sun Marina Beach, Scuba & Snorkeling, &more), Okuma Beach (in Kunigami-son) and Nago (Busena Marine Park, Kise Beach, &more). You can fly from Sasebo to Motobu-cho in 7 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train and ferry. Traveling from Sasebo in May, Motobu-cho is a bit warmer at night with lows of 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
