Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Get in touch with nature at Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave. Discover out-of-the-way places like Kabira Ishizaki Manta Scramble and Kaiji Beach. A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Escape the urban bustle at Toguchi no Hama and Scuba & Snorkeling. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Yabiji and Toriike Pond. Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Get outdoors at Blue Cave and Valley of Gangala. Sefa-Utaki and Nakijin Castle Ruins are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Venture out of the city with trips to Iejima Beach Side Horse Park (in Ie-son), Okinawa World Culture Kingdom Gyokusendo (in Nanjo) and Cape Zampa (in Yomitan-son).
