The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Get some historical perspective at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Nijo-jo Castle. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Gion and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Nara (Nara Park & Todai-ji Temple). There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, steep yourself in history at Heian Shrine, snap pictures at Togetsukyo Bridge, and browse the different shops at Kyoto Station Building.

Getting from Kita to Kyoto by car takes about 1.5 hours. In November, plan for daily highs up to 19°C, and evening lows to 10°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Sun) to allow enough time to take a train to Hiroshima.

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
We've included these beaches for you: Manza Beach and Nirai Beach. Take a break from the city and head to Okuma Beach and Cape Manzamo. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Onna-son: Tropical Beach (in Ginowan), Kouri Bridge (in Nakijin-son) and Naha (Shrikinjocho Stone-Path Road & Shurijo Castle). There's still lots to do: stroll through Kariyushi Beach and look for gifts at Yachimun no Sato.
