A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
Escape the urban bustle at Yakusugi Land and Tachudake. Shop till you drop at Yakushima Local Produce Processing and Marketing Center and Sugisho. The adventure continues: make a trip to Taikoiwa, admire the sheer force of Oko no Taki Fall, take in breathtaking views at Shiratani Unsuikyo Valley, and identify plant and animal life at Anbo River.

A gateway to the island, Hakodate has gained a reputation for its waterfront attractions, its proximity to some of the island's most popular natural sites, and its seafood.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Hakodate Community Design Center and Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse. Visiting Hakodate Nanae Snow Park and Dosanko Farm Hakodate will get you outdoors. Go for a jaunt from Hakodate to Nanae-cho to see Onuma Park Walking Path about 40 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: contemplate the long history of The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, take a stroll through Motomachi, make a trip to Hachimanzaka, and browse the eclectic array of goods at Hakodate Morning Market.
