Head to AEONMALL OKINAWA RYCOM and Sakemarufor plenty of shopping. Get in touch with nature at Scuba & Snorkeling and Okinawa World Culture Kingdom Gyokusendo. Change things up with these side-trips from Naha: Onna Station Nakayukui Market (in Onna-son), Katsuren Castle Ruins (in Uruma) and Sefa-Utaki (in Nanjo). A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
Escape the urban bustle at Anbo River and Oko no Taki Fall. Shop till you drop at Yakushima Local Produce Processing and Marketing Center and Sugisho. Spend the 2nd (Sat) exploring nature at Yakusugi Land. A gateway to the island, Hakodate has gained a reputation for its waterfront attractions, its proximity to some of the island's most popular natural sites, and its seafood.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Hakodate Community Design Center and Hakodate Morning Market. Visiting Hakodate Nanae Snow Park and Dosanko Farm Hakodate will get you outdoors. Go for a jaunt from Hakodate to Nanae-cho to see Onuma Park Walking Path about 40 minutes away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, stop by Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, appreciate the extensive heritage of Motomachi, and make a trip to Hachimanzaka.

You can fly from Kochi to Hakodate in 6.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or do a combination of car and ferry. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Kochi in March: high temperatures in Hakodate hover around 5°C and lows are around -1°C. You can do a combination of flight and bus from Hakodate to Takachiho-cho in 8 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight, bus, and train; or take a train. In March, Takachiho-cho is a bit warmer than Hakodate - with highs of 17°C and lows of 6°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Thu) early enough to travel to Iriomote-jima.
