Nearly destroyed by war during the 1990s, the riverside city of Sarajevo now serves as one of the region's major educational, cultural, and commercial hubs.
Get a sense of the local culture at Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque and Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge. Get in touch with nature at Vrelo Bosne and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Go for a jaunt from Sarajevo to Visegrad to see Andricgrad about 2 hours away. There's lots more to do: get engrossed in the history at Museum Of Crimes Against Humanity And Genocide 1992-1995, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Sarajevo, see the interesting displays at Jewish Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and take in panoramic vistas at The Yellow Fortress.

Luxembourg City, Luxembourg to Sarajevo is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or drive. When traveling from Luxembourg City in August, plan for a bit warmer days in Sarajevo, with highs around 33°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 16°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Tue) so you can travel to Zagreb.

Visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park and The Lower Lakes will get you outdoors. Lower Town and Museum of Broken Relationships are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Zagreb: Rastoke (in Slunj) and Veliki Slap (in Plitvice Lakes National Park).
