Győr is the most important city of northwest Hungary, the capital of Győr-Moson-Sopron County and Western Transdanubia region, and—halfway between Budapest and Vienna—situated on one of the important roads of Central Europe. Explore Gyor's surroundings by going to Sopron (Fire Tower (Tuztorony) & Sopron Old Town) and Pannonhalma Archabbey (in Pannonhalma). The adventure continues: make a trip to Gyor Old Town Area, examine the collection at Tile Stove Exhibition, get to know the resident critters at Zoo Gyor, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Benedictine Church.

For other places to visit, photos, traveler tips, and tourist information, read Gyor trip builder tool.

If you are flying in from Slovakia, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. Expect a daytime high around °C in June, and nighttime lows around °C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
