Azov, formerly known as Azoff, is a town in Rostov Oblast, Russia, situated on the Don River just 16km from the Sea of Azov, which derives its name from the town. Venture out of the city with trips to Temple of the Mother of God's Icon of the Life-Giving Spring (in Petrovka), Tanais Archeological Museum Preserve (in Nedvigovka) and Starocherkasskaya (Starocherkasskaya Historical and Architectural Museum Preserve & Starocherkasskiy Voyskovoy sobor Voskreseniya Khristova). Next up on the itinerary: contemplate the long history of Powder Cellar Museum, examine the collection at Azov Historical Archeological and Paleontological Museum-Reserve, pause for some photo ops at Ataman Platov Monument, and make a trip to Aleksey Gates.

For where to stay, reviews, and tourist information, use the Azov tour itinerary site.

Expect a daytime high around 32°C in June, and nighttime lows around 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Tue) so you can travel back home.
