Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Takayama Showa Museum. Kick off your visit on the 17th (Tue): shop like a local with Funasaka Shuzo Brewery and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and Ninna-ji Temple. Step out of Kyoto to go to Shimamoto-cho and see Suntory Yamazaki Distillery, which is approximately 40 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nishi Honganji, stop by Shinbashi Dori, and make a trip to Sannenzaka Ninenzaka.
