Often referred to as Iceland's second city, Akureyri offers an array of cultural attractions in a scenic setting.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Estuary of the river Eyjafjardara and Scuba & Snorkeling. Popular historic sites such as Akureyrarkirkja and Matthiasarhus are in your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Akureyri side-trips: Holar Cathedral (in Holar), Puffin and Friends (in Saudarkrokur) and Varmahlid (Víðimýrarkirkja & Horseback Riding Tours). Höfn or Höfn í Hornafirði is an Icelandic fishing town in the southeastern part of the country. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Diamond Beach and Vestrahorn. Get in touch with nature at Nature & Wildlife Tours and Sveinsstekksfoss.
